AWM heeds calls for commemoration.

We welcome the AWM’s decision, announced yesterday in a press conference with The Hon Matt Keogh MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister for Defence Personnel, to improve its recognition of the Frontier Wars.

For too long the AWM has defended its failure to properly commemorate these wars fought on Australian soil.

However, the AWM has not yet provided any details, has not explicitly referenced commemoration, and continues to use the term ‘frontier violence’ rather than ‘war’.  The AWM should immediately release more information about its intentions.
